Childrens Services

Welcome to the Children's Department

We offer a wide variety of programs for children, including a Summer Reading Club, movies, puppet shows, the Homework Zone and online tutoring, crafts and guest performances. View and print the Children's program calendar.

The children’s library staff will make every effort to provide access to programs and make special accommodations for those with disabilities. Please call the Children’s Department at 214.509.4906 at least one week prior to a program if you need assistance.

***Please remember that children under age nine must be accompanied by a parent or designated caregiver, age sixteen or older.***


Story Times

We offer a variety of story time programs throughout the year. The story sessions are free and structured by age group. Five story time groups are offered during the school and two groups are available during the summer. For details, see the Story Time page.
 

Bluebonnet Home School Program

The Bluebonnet Home School Program offers a book list for home schooled children on a third through sixth grade level.

Newborn Honorarium

Die Cut Machine

A die cutting machine is available for use in library by youth 14 and up. Please review our Lettering Machine Policy
 

Homework Help

Students in grades 4 - 12 (including College Introductory) can access help with math, science, language arts and social studies through an online tutoring service. The service is available 7 days a week from 3 to 10 p.m. A password is required for use. For more information, call 214.509.4913 or 214.509.4906.

TumbleBooks for KidsThe TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.
