2.
Can I water during the daytime?
No outdoor watering with sprinklers is permitted between the hours of 10am and 6pm on any day April 1 - October 31 each year. However, you may water with a hand-held hose, soaker hose, or permanently installed drip irrigation system during these daytime hours, provided no runoff is occurring.
3.
I’m planning on putting new landscape in and my landscaper says I need to water every day twice a day. How often should I water?
You may run your sprinklers twice per week, but you may hand water up to two hours any day-so you would only be able to hand water, use soaker hoses, or use permanently installed drip irrigation systems if it was needed to establish new plants or sod. It is recommended to postpone new landscaping until all drought stages are over, but it is not prohibited.
4.
My neighbor is running their sprinkler systems with broken heads and geysers of water occur, or they are watering during rain events, or water is running down the street, what do I do?
Call 214-509-4160, Code Compliance, to report watering violations.
5.
I need to drain and refill my swimming pool; is this allowed?
We recommend that this not be done unless it is absolutely necessary. Stage two does not prohibit this, but remember, the pool must be drained into the sanitary sewer system (not in a street or alley), and the water rates are in a tiered rate which may result in a higher water bill in refilling the pool.
6.
Can I hand water my landscape on other days besides my watering days?
If you are holding the hose and not allowing water to run into sidewalks and streets, or if you are using a soaker hose or permanently installed drip systems (with no leaks), they may be used for up to two hours any day as long as no runoff is occurring.
7.
Can I water my foundation on other days besides my watering days?
The use of hand held hose, permanently installed drip system, or soaker hoses (with no leaks) may be used for up to two hours any day as long as no runoff is occurring.
8.
Am I allowed to wash my car?
You may wash your car with at home with a hose that is using a shut off nozzle. (Don’t let water continuously run from hose.)
