1. Where is the Allen Police Department Headquarters?

The Allen Police Department is located at 205 W McDermott in Allen, TX.

2. Do I need to register my home alarm?

Yes. You may appear in person at the police department or print and complete the online alarm registration form (.pdf) and mail it in with the registration fee. There is a $50 annual fee for alarm registration. Payment can be made with a check or money order only. For additional information please contact 972-831-7495.

3. Is there a fee for false alarms in Allen?

There is a $50.00 annual alarm permit fee, you are allowed three (3) free false burglar alarms in a 12 (twelve) month period. The fee for false burglar alarms in excess of three (3) is as follows:

a. charge for each false alarm over three (3) but no more than five (5) other false alarms during the preceding 12-month period: $50.00

b. charge for each false alarm over five (5) but not more than eight (8) other false alarms during the preceding 12-month period: $75.00

c. charge for each false alarm if the location has had eight (8) or more false alarms in the preceding 12-month period: $100.00

The fee schedule for False Emergency Assistance/Personal Distress/Panic Alarms is the same as above, a through c.

False robbery alarms are $100.00

4. Is there a curfew in Allen?

Yes. Persons age sixteen (16) and younger are prohibited from public places without adult supervision between the hours of 11:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. on Sunday through Thursday and between the hours of 12:01A.M and 6:00 A.M. on Friday and Saturday. Certain exceptions may apply.

5. What are the restrictions on scooters?

The ordinance prohibits the use of motor assisted electric or gas scooters on any highway, street, alley, path, or trail within the city limits except on paths or trails set aside for the exclusive operation of bicycles.

A person may not operate a motor assisted scooter on any path or trail within a city park except on paths and trails set aside for the exclusive operation of bicycles. (You can ride on a sidewalk.)

7. Does the Allen Police Department have a "Ride-Along" program?

Yes. Persons from the media, citizens, off-duty officers, police chaplains, Citizens on Patrol, Volunteers in Policing, Police Explorers, and others may participate in the Ride-Along program. Contact our Community Relations Deparment at 214-509-4359 for more information.

8. Can I be a volunteer at the Police Department?

Yes. You must attend our Citizen's Police Academy to be a volunteer at the APD. For more information, call the Community Relations Unit at 972.678.2500.
