Civil War Comes to Life

The Allen Heritage Guild marks the 150th anniversary of the "War between the States" with a reenactment of the Civil War.

The annual Civil War reenactment presented by Allen Heritage Guild marks the 150th anniversary of the "War between the States." Stroll through the grounds as living historians demonstrate infantry equipment, weapons, rations, drills, camp life, cooking, medical treatments, blacksmithing and more.

Note-ably North Texas Chorus and Allen Community Theatre will host "dress the lady" clothing demonstrations and a tea party on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., "Stories Around the Campfire" features the music of Megan and Leah Bynum (twin fiddlers). At 7 p.m., activities conclude with letters from the war and musical entertainment from the Keltic Dead.

Sunday encampment opens at 11 a.m. with a  debate about secession at 1 p.m. The day concludes with a skirmish and musket firing at 2 p.m. and a medical demonstration at 3 p.m.
